How Widgetscape is built

• Native. Written in Swift with SwiftUI and AppKit, with no web views. A small background agent draws the widgets on the desktop, behind your windows; they redraw only when what they show changes.
• Private by default. There is no account. Every widget has a Privacy tab that says what it reads and where it goes, and what a widget shows never passes through our servers. The anonymous usage counts the app sends are listed field by field in the privacy policy, and one switch turns them off.
• Distributed directly. Widgetscape is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, and its updates are signed too. It isn’t on the Mac App Store, because some widgets need system access the store doesn’t allow.
• Shown as it is. Every widget image on this site is the app’s own rendering, captured from the app at a fixed moment with sample data.

Status

Widgetscape is in public beta. It runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later), in English. 8 widgets are free forever, every download includes a 14-day trial of all 31, and Widgetscape Pro is a one-time €9.99 + VAT. Payments, invoices and VAT are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record.
